Our 12,000 alumni are a leadership force - working from within education and from every sector to effect fundamental change.

Teach For America Los Angeles Alumni Summit

Los Angeles alumni came together on April 25, 2009 to hear and learn from each other in addition to other leaders in education, policy, and a variety of professional arenas. The day provided a forum for alumni to reconnect with colleagues, access skills and knowledge in specific fields of expertise, and network with hundreds of professionals who are deeply committed to our mission and education reform in Los Angeles.

Welcome and Opening Panel
The day began with a celebration of the impact our alumni have made across the Los Angeles region, including a reflection from a charter corps alumnus and featured speaker.  The morning panel focused discussion on the current budget crisis in California, creating a space for senior local and state leaders to have an honest and forward-thinking conversation regarding the short- and long-term impact of these cuts.

Closing Program and Panel
The day concluded with a "What's Next" reflection, in which we heard how an alumnus' current work and impact continues to be informed by their corps experience. Our closing panel engaged organizational leaders of some of our city and state's current education reform movements in constructive dialogue around what is working now and what we much collectively work toward in the years to come.
