Hear from Cassandra Ohanenye, an underclassman who shares how she has gotten involved with the movement to end educational inequity.
"I’ve always known that educational inequity is a major issue in our country. As president of my school’s Phi Sigma Pi chapter, I realized that I could do something about this on my campus. For instance, I learned that many students lack the proper supplies such as a backpack, pencils, paper, ruler, glue and markers which are necessary to be successful in the classroom. My chapter and I conducted a backpack supply drive on campus to address this issue and donated fully supplied backpacks to Teach For America schools to ensure this shortage does not happen. It’s great to see kids so excited about getting backpacks and I know that every time we drop off supplies, we are making a difference.”
