Teach For All

Teach For America is working in partnership with Teach First, an adaptation of Teach For America in the United Kingdom, to launch Teach For All, which will support entrepreneurs in other countries who are pursuing the development of the Teach For America model locally.

Teach For All was created in response to requests from groups in several countries that are inspired by the Teach For America and Teach First model and want to replicate it in their respective countries. The organization was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative in September of 2007 with significant start-up support from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and the Amy & Larry Robbins Foundation. Teach For All is a separately incorporated, funded, and staffed organization that is being incubated within Teach For America.

What does Teach For All do?

Teach For All is a global network of independent organizations committed to building the movement to eliminate educational inequity in their countries by enlisting their most promising future leaders in the effort. These organizations recruit and develop their countries’ top recent college graduates of all academic majors and career interests to commit two years to teach in low-income communities and become lifelong leaders for educational excellence and equity.

Organizations that are part of the Teach For All network are independent, locally governed and locally funded. Teach For All’s central operation will support the development of these local organizations by:

  • Sharing programmatic best practices: Teach For All will help local entities establish the highest-quality programs for recruiting, selecting, training, developing, and fostering the leadership of program participants, and over time will capture local innovations to spread throughout the Teach For All network.
  • Building private and public sector support: Teach For All will assist local entities in building the necessary governmental and private sector support through leveraging records of past performance track records and existing relationships, including facilitating funding and recruitment partnerships with international funders.
  • Anticipating organizational development needs: Teach For All will help local entities quickly put in place the structure and organizational systems necessary to foster success.
  • Fostering a global network: Teach For All will build a network among programs across the world to accelerate learning and create participant, alumni, and organizational exchange opportunities.

How can you get involved in Teach For All?

Starting a new local organization
Champions who are interested in developing Teach For All organizations in their countries should consider whether they believe this particular model could be feasible and impactful in their country given the local realities and context. If you strongly believe in Teach For All’s theory of change and its potential to adress educational disparities in your country, and can envision an organization in your country that lives up to the programmatic principles that unite Teach For All’s member organizations, we encourage you to reach out to us by e-mailing teachforall@teachforamerica.org.

The first step will be to work with Teach For All and local constituents to develop a strategic plan for an organization in your country. You will then work with local constituents to build stakeholder support within relevant governmental agencies and in the private sector. Ultimately, you will find the team to launch and grow a thriving local organization. Teach For All staff can provide resources and guidance throughout this process.

Teach For All is seeking:

  • Contributions totaling $11 million over two years for the central costs of supporting the development of independent local organizations across the world
  • Multinational corporations, business leaders, and philanthropists who are interested in developing this model within certain countries
  • Help from government leaders of countries who are interested in developing this model within their countries.

The Amy & Larry Robbins Foundation, which has pledged $2 million towards the central costs of Teach For All over two years.

McKinsey & Company, which has provided millions of dollars of probono services. A probono McKinsey study resulted in the design of Teach For All and local McKinsey teams have been involved in designing the plans for Teach For India, among other local organizations.
